Think of it as a fuel-efficient V-6 touting the horses of a V-8. Our tester included Ford Motor Co's technologically advanced EcoBoost powertrain, which directly injects highly pressurized fuel directly into the combustion chamber of each cylinder, bypassing an air-fuel mixture port and lowering emissions with more precise fuel delivery. Both engines register 16 miles per gallon city and 22 mpg highway in all-wheel drive while the 3.5-liter front drive version kicks in with 17 and 23 respectively. The engines recommend premium fuel in the 18.6-gallon tanks for best overall performance, although regular, 87-octane fuel may be used. ![]() The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine comes standard with all-wheel drive while the Duratec V-6 offers both front and all-wheel drive. Both are connected to an electronic six-speed automatic transmission. For more punch, opt for the 3.5-liter EcoBoost generating a generous 355 horses. Two modern, high-efficiency V-6 engines are available starting with a 3.7-liter Duratec V-6 cranking out 268 horsepower. Optional in the six-passenger model is a second-row refrigerated console holding up to seven 12-oz cans. Optional is a six-seat configuration with two bucket seats in row two. Power front bucket seats with heated backs and cushions come standard. The two-person third row, however, is best left for pre-teens because of restrictive headroom. Head and leg room are more than generous in the first two rows and the standard 60/40-split second row easily accommodates three adults. Lincoln MKT is a posh seven-passenger crossover/wagon featuring front wheel or sure-footed, Chicago-area-friendly all-wheel drive. With the 2010 introduction of the all-new MKT, think of the final "T" alluding to "truck." Lincoln also offers the MKS, where the "S" signifies up level sedan. The "Z" indicates Zephyr and "X", crossover. The first two letters (MK) recall (in abbreviated fashion) the glory days of "Mark" while the last letter signifies a specific model. Flash forward to the 2007 model year when Lincoln introduced the MKZ sedan and MKX five-passenger crossover (the Aviator replacement). Mark VII and Mark VIII became iconic in Lincoln circles. In days of yore, Lincoln had success with the "Mark' name, adding Roman numerals to designate different models and years. Lincoln retains its hard-to-recall, letter-based names for recently introduced vehicles, so it's imperative to understand the method behind the naming madness. Since it's a Lincoln, expect a variety of up-level features combining with high-tech gadgetry. It certainly performs more nimbly than its 4,900-pound weight would lead one to believe. Flex sports a flat-roof design available in colors different than the body MKT opts for a more traditional arched ceiling with body color hues.ĭon't let the size fool you, MKT utilizes a car-like platform which translates into a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride. Don't call these two SUVs, as Ford prefers the terms crossovers or wagons. Both share the same full-size (207.6 inches) underpinnings with three-rows providing very stretchable interior space. New for 2010 is Lincoln's MKT, following in the footsteps of the successful launch of the Ford Flex (2009 debut). Ford Motor Company's Lincoln Division retired the V-8-powered rear-drive Aviator SUV a few years back after a short stay, but retrains the iconic full-size, truck-based Navigator. ![]() Now, economic realities and higher fuel costs have conspired to slow the drum beat. The story at the centre of Ghost Music revolves around the struggles of living with an elderly in-law, the collapse of a marriage, and more generally the pressures on women to be doting wives in Chinese society. Out of the blue, Song Yan receives a letter from Bai Yu, her father’s favourite pianist, presumed dead for years she starts playing again and she begins to dream of an orange mushroom that talks to her, and which yearns to listen to Chopin. ![]() Here is where the “ghost” of the title comes in. Within 1 day of steroids, the inflammation begins to recede and the itch calms. (I am allergic to doxycycline.) The most effective treatment for the severe inflammation is a course of prednisone. I have had at least three courses of amoxicillin in the last 2 years as preventive measures for bite infection and Lyme. The inflamed bite area expands to more than 6 to 8 inches around, with bright red swelling and itch. My body has a severe immune response to tick bites, without the typical Lyme disease symptoms. I found this thread while searching on "recurring itch from tick bite." I have never tested positive for Lyme, but have removed many ticks over the years. This is not a tumor or cancer coincidentally growing on the bite site - this is something related to the whole bacterial legacy of that vermin that bit me. I rested, drank ginger tea all day, piled in the garlic, and the next day the lump was completely gone. However, this last time squashed all ideas of that! I was flat-out with work, not stressed, but just drained and tired, and there it was the next day - almost the size of a marble. I have even thought throughout that period that I may have a small tumor/cancer growing/shrinking in that location. It is a little itchy sometimes, but mostly feels a bit tender. It has been 4 years since I was bitten, and it is not often, but occasionally throughout that period (when I am really run-down) that I get a massive lump (resembling a tumor or boil) at the exact bite location - just like what I had initially. I didn't even get asked if I had had a tick bite, or if I had been overseas.Īnyway, the reason I came across your post was because I was searching for recurring inflammation/irritation at the original bite site (same as the other Aussie guy who said he was bitten by a roo tick and had recurring itching etc). I then went to the States for 4 weeks on vacation.Ģ months after I returned, I became very ill, ANA was high, muscle and bone pain all over, extreme fatigue, sharp stabbing pains randomly all over my body like someone had made a voodoo doll out of me, kept getting blood tests and other for the next 6 months, lost my job as a PE Teacher Trainer cause even packing up my sack seemed too hard, and eventually docs put me in the basket of fibromyalgia because docs here don't consider Lyme disease as an option. I was in great health at the time when I got bitten. at the time - but I didn't feel well, and I did experience vertigo and other weird feelings for the first time in my life. I don't remember any symptoms of rashes or fevers etc. I had a massive itchy sore lump at the bite spot for around 2-3 months afterwards. I am in Australia and got bitten by a tick that left me feeling sick for weeks. But that doesn't work well when there are many who have never left the country! The rest try to say suffers must have been bitten overseas. Being tested is almost impossible here though as only a small handful of medical doctors believe it is here. I don't know for sure if I do have Lyme, but definitely have a fair few of the symptoms. It happens a lot less frequently now than it used to, but from what others have said here, it can't be too uncommon a thing for ticks at least, if not Lyme disease. This is even after my dr at the time surgically removed the bite site because of the flare ups! ![]() about a half centimetre to centimetre body width, which equates to about 1/4 to 1/5 an inch I believe) over 10 years ago and also by another kangaroo tick ten years ago this year.īoth bite sites flare up with itching and the first site will also swell and become raised like a fresh bite. If you have a couple (2-4) pieces of pvp gear, and decent knowledge of your class, skirmishes are the way to go. Skirmishes = 1 piece of gear, 20 gold, 445 honor. That's a 1750 belt, plus 20 gold, plus 130 honor. Let's say you get one piece of gear, three gold wins, and two honor wins. Don't forget, you've won about 7 times, not 2 times. In 42 minutes of skirmishes you make 315. In the 42 minutes of BGing, you made 185 honor. If, however, you do skirmishes, with a 10-15 second queue, and a run time of 1-2 minutes normally, you find yourself winning 1 out of every 3 (a low approximation!). Let's hopefully assume you get one piece of gear. And, you've gotten a bronze and silver box. You've gotten roughly 35 honor from each match plus the 150 bonus the time you won. So now, in two random BGs, 42 minutes of time, you've won one time. Let's also say, optimistically, you get a bronze lockbox even if you lose. So, let's say you get the silver lock box, every time you win. To win, you don't NEED the gold box, you just need to beat your enemy. Each win rewards about 150 honor, and a lockbox. While it seems way worse than this, we can approximate that you'd win about 50% of your random battle grounds. In most BGs, a single oriented, good player (yourself) cannot change the dynamic of the game. If, however, your BG team is choosing not to play the BG, and running around LF special achieves, or just killing people, it's often hard to get a flag capture, or 500 gold, or whatever the objective is. During the actual battle ground itself, you may receive anywhere from 20-50 honor from engaging in combat. All in all, roughly 6 minute queues, and 15 minute games. A random BG, can take anywhere from 5 minute, if it's an easy win, or a hard loss, to up to 20 minutes for some of the more intense CTF matches. I personally find that doing skirmishes is most rewarding if you have a decent knowledge of your class's abilities, AND a small amount of PvP gear (obtained through Glad Sanctums, normally).Ī random battleground queue might be roughly 4-10 minutes, (5-6 on my server). There is also a small chance to be warforged, with an increase in 6 item levels. This can be generic 620 PvP gear, or class gear w/ set bonuses. Glass wine glasses are more durable and tend to be cheaper than crystal glasses. But this also means they are fragile and more expensive. They are very thin, which is great for drinking wine smoothly. Keep reading to learn the differences between these two materials.Ĭrystal wine glasses tend to have a higher quality. Wine glasses can be made from glass or crystal. Glass Wine GlassesĪnother important aspect of wine glasses is the material they’re made of. These types of wine glasses also maintain the wine’s cool temperature. This preserves better their aromas and acidic flavors. In contrast, white wines and rosés should be served in glasses with smaller bowls and long stems. Wine glasses with a long stem and a wide bowl are better for swirling and, therefore, are better for red wines. Swirling releases the wine’s bouquet, enhancing its taste. This allows you to distinguish all the particular smells and flavors of the wine.īesides the flavor, the glass shape can affect how you swirl a wine. The curvature of wine glasses allows the aromas to concentrate around the rim. When you pour wine into a glass, the aromas concentrate in that space. The different wine glass types are better for serving specific types of wine. The size and shape of the rim and the bowl give each wine glass different characteristics. Image credit: Does the shape of a wine glass matter? Its width depends on the shape and width of the bowl. It gives the glass stability and a unique shape. The base or foot is the bottom part of a wine glass. The drawback is that their lack of stem makes it more difficult to swirl the wine and tends to warm the wine quicker. For example, they are great to make into glitter holiday wine glasses. Stemless wine glasses have a more casual appearance and are more versatile. Instead, they have a bowl with a flat bottom. This type of wine glass doesn’t have a base or a stem. In recent years, stemless wine glasses have gained popularity. This makes these types of wine glasses perfect for beverages such as brandy and port wine. A short stem allows your hand to warm the bowl of the glass. Wine glasses with a shorter stem are easier to hold and more difficult to knock over. Long-stemmed wine glasses are usually used for red wines. Its length allows for easier swirling and prevents your hand from smudging the bowl of the glass. This is the most common type of stem you’ll find. ![]() Stems help maintain the wine’s temperature and make it easier to swirl the wine. The stem is the section between the base and the bowl where you hold the glass. That’s why a larger bowl is great for serving full-bodied red wines, while a smaller bowl is perfect for white wines. This gives the wine room to breathe and, also, concentrates its aromas. The shape and size of the bowl help differentiate between specific types of wine glasses.Ī wide bowl allows the wine to swirl without spilling or splashing. A thick and round rim is not recommended, as it is a sign of a poor-quality wine glass. A thin rim allows the wine to flow smoothly.
